Megabangna is the latest addition to Bangkok's ever-expanding collection of shopping malls. Opening in May 2012, Mega Bangna is a "mega mall" - purported to be the first low-rise super regional mall in Southeast Asia. With everything under one roof, the main anchor tenants of the mall are: Robinson Department Store, Big C Extra, HomePro, Mega Cineplex and IKEA store - yes, IKEA is also part of this gigantic complex. It is located in the suburbs of east Bangkok, technically in the neighbouring province of Samut Prakarn, on the Bangna-Trad highway Km 8.
The Mall has only 2 levels and is divided into 9 zones: Mega Food, Mega Fashion, Mega Kids, Mega Tech, Mega Home, Mega Wellness, Mega Sports, Mega Banking and Mega Lifestyle. There are over 300 retailers in the realm of fashion boutiques, children's stores, home decor, IT & electronics, sports equipment, beauty & wellness. Besides, there are over 100 cafes and restaurants! As it is a huge shopping mall, you might want to leave any ideas about covering the entire complex in one day. IKEA is a very large place in itself and deserves a whole day to do it justice. The best way to get there, if you don't have your own transportation, is to get on the BTS skytrain and get off at Udomsuk station, where there is free shuttle bus service to the mega mall.
