Mesamis Café

At the risk of veering away from the main theme of this website, the following post is not about shopping, but about food, and is definitely a bargain.

A recently discovered restaurant, Mesamis Cafe is located at Centre Point hotels and serviced apartments on Witthayu Road, Ratchdamri Road and Thonglor.  They have amazing deals on their lunch buffets and afternoon teas.

The Buffet Lunch is available on Weekdays, Mon-Fri, at the Witthayu and Ratchdamri branches, and serves a good mix of International and Thai fares. Offerings include a decent variety of sushis, salmon, pasta station, pizza, soups, several favourite Thai dishes, a feast of desserts and even chocolate fondue with fruits. While the full rate is Baht 480 net per person, there is currently a 'Come 2 Pay 1' offer at the Witthayu branch, and 30% discount at Ratchdamri.

There is also a BBQ Seafood Buffet Dinner at the Mesamis Ratchdamri every Friday-Saturday, costing Baht 999+ per person.  With the current promotion of Come 2 Pay 1, it comes to Baht 1,353 for 2 persons.  This limited offer is until September 30, 2013.

Besides the above, the main highlight of Mesamis Cafe at Centre Point Witthayu is their Afternoon High Tea Buffet, currently running every Sunday.  At Baht 300 net, you will get an unending array of goodies: cakes, cupcakes, muffins, scones, macarons, fruits (with chocolate fondue, of course), tarts, custard, eclairs, choco-balls, etc.  If you're overwhelmed with the sweets, there are savoury delights too, including pizza, mini burgers, sandwiches, rolls, and more.  The coffee and tea is unlimited, and is available hot or cold; moreover, you can also interchange them.

Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair - Sept'13

The 52nd Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair is happening from September 6-10, 2013 at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani. Around 1500 exhibitors, local as well as foreign, are expected to feature the finest in jewellery - be it gold, silver or precious gems. To promote the event, the Thai government has announced a deduction of 20% tax on imported gems and jewelry sold at the fair, which is expected to be passed on to buyers as discounts.  As a result of the tax deduction, international exhibitors can sell gems and jewellery from other countries duty-free, while local jewellers can reduce their prices after cutting down on their costs of imported parts and products.

The exhibition is a bi-annual event, taking place around February and September every year, and attracts hordes of traders and buyers from all over the world.
