Red Cross Fair 2012

The annual Red Cross Fair is back this year, taking place from March 30 to April 7, 2012, at the Royal Suan Amporn Gardens and Sanam Suea Pa on Sri Ayutthaya Road.

The much awaited event will feature more than 200 booths by both the public and private sectors, offering various goods at discounted prices, as well as a variety of educational and entertainment activities.  All proceeds from the event will go towards the charity projects of the Thai Red Cross Society.

The annual fair is very popular for its carnival-like atmosphere with many games and lucky draws to take part in.  The opening hours on weekdays are 2 pm to 11 pm; and on weekends: 10 am to 11 pm.  Tickets to enter the fair are 20 Baht per person.

Italian Buffet Lunch at No.43 Italian Bistro

No.43 Italian Bistro is an established Italian restaurant located at the Cape House serviced apartments building on Soi Langsuan.  Opened in 1998, the restaurant is popular for its fine selection of Italian dishes and home-made pastas & pizzas prepared by skilled Italian chefs, and also their delectable desserts.

Ice Cream Festival 2012 at Central Plaza

With Bangkok's humid summer heat getting too hot to handle, a perfect escape has arrived just in time in the form of an Ice Cream Festival at Central Plaza.  The festival is taking place from March 22 to May 25, 2012 at all 7 branches of Central Plaza in Bangkok, with each branch hosting the fest for a week each, as follows:

USA Fair 2012 at CentralWorld

The USA Fair 2012 is taking place at the Central World shopping mall from April 19 to 22 - which is the first weekend (Thursday-Sunday) after the long songkran holidays.  The fair will be divided into 4 zones and will occupy all areas on the 1st and 2nd floor of Central World.

Over 70 booths will present a promising variety of popular American brand products and services at special prices.  There will be food, wines, juices, etc., and also tour agencies, airlines and educational institutes.

Though the USA Fair runs for 4 days, past events have shown that the good stuffs often fly off the shelves within the first couple of days.  Many booths are empty and therefore closed on the last day.  So if you do not wish to miss anything, it is best to visit the exhibition early on, rather than the last days.

Dasa Book Cafe

Dasa Book Cafe is a second-hand bookshop in Bangkok with well over 16,000 used and new books in several languages, including Dutch, French, German, Italian, Russian, Scandinavian and Spanish, besides English, of course.  It is quite popular with English language bookworms out here, as there isn't much of a choice of secondhand book stores around.
